When you submit a review, we collect:

• First name and city
• Postal code (first 3 characters published; full code stored privately for aggregation)
• Email address (optional — only if you choose to provide it)
• Your ISP, plan name, monthly price, and tenure as a customer
• Your ratings and written review content
• Speed test results you manually enter (download, upload Mbps)

3.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools may collect:

• IP address (truncated to /24 subnet before storage)
• Browser type, operating system, and device type
• Pages visited, referral URL, and time on page
• General geographic location (city/province level, derived from truncated IP)

3.3 Speed test data

Our embedded speed test widget is powered by Ookla® Speedtest. When you run a speed test, Ookla may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policy. Speed test results you choose to submit via our review form are stored by us and governed by this policy.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Publish your review on the Site (name, city, postal prefix, ISP, ratings, and review text)
• Aggregate speed data and ratings by postal code and ISP for our public statistics
• Detect and filter spam, fraudulent, or abusive submissions
• Send you an optional email notification when your review is published (only if you provided your email)
• Improve the Site's content and user experience through anonymised analytics
• Respond to your inquiries or support requests
• Comply with our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.

5. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: We use third-party vendors for hosting, analytics, and email delivery who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations consistent with PIPEDA.
• Aggregated statistics: We publish anonymised, aggregated data (e.g., average speeds by postal area, ISP rating distributions) that cannot identify any individual.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for the Site to function (e.g., CSRF tokens for form security). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: We use privacy-respecting analytics (no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting) to understand how the Site is used. These are anonymised and do not identify individuals.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time. The Site remains fully functional without analytics cookies.

7. Data Retention

• Published reviews: Retained indefinitely unless you request removal.
• Email addresses: Deleted within 90 days of your review being published, unless you request ongoing notifications.
• Full postal codes: Stored for aggregation purposes; deleted or anonymised after 24 months.
• Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted.
• Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymised; individual session data purged after 13 months.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS / TLS encryption for all data in transit
• CSRF token protection on all form submissions
• Parameterised SQL queries to prevent injection attacks
• Rate limiting and automated spam detection on review submissions
• Regular software updates and vulnerability patching

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA's breach notification rules.

9. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
• Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent to our use of your personal information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Site may contain links to third-party websites including ISP websites and Speedtest.net. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

We may earn a referral commission if you sign up with an ISP via a link on our Site. These relationships do not affect our editorial rankings or review content, and are disclosed where applicable.
